Through my practice with voguing I could experience, self-awareness and strengthen my physicality, resistance and agility, while illuminating the senses through the body. Present Body, aims at a better understanding of the fundamental also physical principles, of how contemporary dance and vogue meet and complement each other. How it relates to space and how we can unify or isolate different parts of the body, using images and imagination to expand the knowledge of each participant and his technique. These fundamentals will be expanded through choreographic phrases, sequences and improvisation. Participants will be challenged to visit unknown places, intrigue different ways of moving and to experience the enrichment of their quality of movement with a wide variety of textures.

Born in Brazil, Suelem started her dance education at the Deborah Colker Movement Center and then got accepted to P.A.R.T.S in Belgium. She has been working with different choreographs such as Deborah Hay and Jefta Van Dinther and also has been an active dance teacher for more than five years. She started at Cullberg in 2017 where she is currently working.
