Some rituals ask nothing of you. Just to arrive. To sit. To be present.

PAUSE. Tea & Sound is a 100 minutes experience that moves through two of the oldest rituals in the world — tea and sound.

We are joined by Zoe, founder of Sù Guǒ — a new Düsseldorf-based tea house dedicated to authentic Chinese tea culture. Zoe brings years of expertise in the art of Chinese tea — its preparation, its history, its ritual.

Tea has been part of Chinese culture for over 2,000 years. And yet most of us have never really tasted it.

Zoe will open with a brief introduction to the world of Chinese tea — its six main categories, how they differ in processing, flavour and effect on the body. You will learn enough to understand what you are drinking — and why it matters. That day we will share two teas together. Zoe will tell you which ones and why she chose them — what story they carry and what they bring.

Then comes the part most people never learn. How to hold the cup. How to breathe with the tea before you drink. How to slow down enough to actually receive what is in the cup.

After that — Zoe steps back.

No instructions on what you should smell. No list of what you should taste. The cup is yours. The experience is yours. Every person in the room will find something different — and that is exactly the point.

Then you lie down. Or sit. And the sound begins.

Sanam of KLANG KLANG guides you through a 30 minute sound bath with Tibetan singing bowls. Let the frequencies do what words cannot.

We close as we began — with tea. A different cup. A different moment.

What to know

This is our first session together — an intimate test format, limited to 12 people.

No prior experience needed. Come as you are. Everything you need — mats, blankets and cushions — is provided on site. English spoken.
