What is the Intensive Course Format?
Our intensive courses run over two months and include four extended workshops that build on each other, plus a weekly class and full access to all our weekly classes for the duration of the course. So you're not just showing up for the workshops, you're practicing consistently every week and reinforcing what you learn.
This format is for people who want real depth and continuity, more than weekly drop-ins can offer. Instead of skimming lots of topics, you explore fewer things thoroughly in a supportive group, which is exactly what makes the material actually stick in your body. Open to all levels. Beginners and intermediates are equally welcome, especially if you're curious and up for diving deeper.
KUNG FU MOVEMENT INTENSIVE
This is your invitation to get out of your head and back into your body. Over two months you'll develop movement that feels powerful, fluid, and connected, and you'll walk away with practical tools you can keep using long after the course ends.
We'll dive into the Five Animal Qi Gong from XUAN Gong Fu and learn how this system trains efficient, expressive movement. As well as how to ground yourself in training as well as in daily life. Alongside it we'll introduce the Tai Chi Sword, applying the same principles to explore precision, flow, and whole-body coordination (swords are provided).
Each animal teaches you something specific:
- The Turtle opens the body softly and calmly through structure, finding chain connections into the floor and out through the body.
- The Crane plays with softness and structure, opening and closing the chest while training weight control and one-leg balance.
- The Dragon works with spirals, moving freely yet deeply rooted. The hands move like dragon heads, the lower body precise yet wild.
- The Snake brings precision, speed, and sharp, explosive action through its 8 Motions, once you've built rooted stances and an open, flexible waist.
- The Tiger brings explosive power through center connection and body waves, teaching you how breath supports explosive movement.
You'll then take these same qualities into the Tai Chi Sword training, where softness, structure, spirals, precision, and explosiveness translate into weapon work. The sword becomes a tool to refine your intention, extend movement through space, and seriously level up your coordination and awareness.
Throughout the course you'll train how these qualities support each other and emerge from the same source. We pay close attention to how softness, responsiveness, and explosiveness can coexist when movement is well organized. Standing Qi Gong runs through every session as a core training method, not an add-on, sharpening your awareness, coordination, and ability to generate force.
We also include targeted strength and mobility work to support the ranges, shapes, and dynamics we're building, with a focus on legs, hips, spine, and shoulders, trained in ways that carry directly into movement and martial application. And there's real time to repeat, explore, and feel how the work translates into clearer, freer action.
